About
Bishop McCabe Village
Bishop McCabe Retirement Village is an independent living community of 24 units, located in Wollongong's northern suburb of Towradgi. It is part of the St Mary's Retirement Village located at Berkeley in Wollongong's southern suburbs.
Bishop McCabe Retirement Village enjoys a quiet, peaceful setting. A number of the units are at first floor, with walk-up stairways. The residents' recreation room lies at the centre of the village and is a great resource for activities, meetings and craft groups.
St Mary's Retirement Village is also an important part of the Wollongong aged care ministry, providing residential services to older people, if required.
As Bishop McCabe Retirement Village is a 'stand-alone' service, every effort is made by the management of St Mary's Retirement Village to assist residents should their care needs change and support be needed from a low care residential aged community such as St Mary's Retirement Village at Berkeley.
For 25 years, the Diocese of Wollongong owned and managed the aged care ministries of St Mary's Retirement Village and Bishop McCabe Retirement Village at Towradgi. To ensure its aged care ministries long-term sustainability and growth, the diocese transitioned ownership to Catholic Healthcare in May 2006.
The Diocese of Wollongong is a member organisation of Catholic Healthcare.
