Catholic Healthcare promotes life in all its fullness by providing aged, health and community services, inspired by the Catholic tradition.
The Christian tradition firmly believes in the basic goodness of each and every person. To understand our humanity, we need to appreciate the richness of life, including its spiritual dimensions.
The journey of life makes us who we are. Each person's journey is unique. At Catholic Healthcare, we seek to nurture each individual, promoting life to its full.
Living God,
Fill us with your joy,
Grant us your wisdom and
Inspire us always
To promote life that brings
Hope to those we serve,
Peace to those we care for and
Dignity to the sick, frail, elderly and marginalised.
Amen.
Catholic Healthcare is guided by five Values:
Compassion is essential to the healing relationship. It is the response to suffering that says ‘you are not alone’, and it takes courage and companionship to sustain it. It is the key to holistic care. Compassion lets one feel as the other feels, and so enriches the individual and invites them to provide what the other person needs.
Coupled with compassion, respect reminds us that each person in our care is unique and distinct. Respect commands partnership in healing and caring. Respect invites the carer to protect the person in their vulnerability and at the same time preserve their dignity. Compassionate respect is indispensable if we are to deliver care which is truly effective.
Honesty is being truthful, sincere and direct. It is a quality of being moral, honest and upright. Honesty is about preserving standards and maintaining integrity.
Hospitality is about ensuring that people feel welcomed and honoured and at home. Hospitality springs from our belief in the dignity of each person and our respect for life.
Excellence is ensuring that our services are of the highest quality and that we act in ways that promote the greatest good of each person.

Pastoral care focuses on the care of the whole person, in particular the spiritual dimension.
Catholic Healthcare ensures that pastoral care is an integral and available element of our services. While we recognise that we are all called to be pastoral, Catholic Healthcare also recruits professionals in pastoral care, trains pastoral care volunteers and provides education and formation for our staff within a context of pastoral care.
Ethical decision making is not only about good and just ways of conducting business and delivering care, it is also a central part of our Catholic tradition.
Catholic Healthcare is guided by the “Code of Ethical Standards for Catholic Health & Aged Care Services in Australia”.
Catholic Healthcare has also placed importance on the establishment and operation of its ethics committee, education on ethical decision making for staff, and developing alliances with bodies such as the John Plunkett Centre for Ethics, through which expert ethical advice can be sought in a timely and effective manner.
